Midfielder or Winger, where is Alex Iwobi's best position at Everton? Join the conversation

Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi is now an Evertonian after sealing a lucrative five-year deal from Premier League rivals.

While Iwobi struggled for game time at Arsenal, it is expected he would be allowed to express himself better at Everton.

The question, however, is why is the best position to get the best out of Iwobi. With the Super Eagles of Nigeria, he is seen as the heir to the departed captain Mikel Obi due to his passing range

During his time at Arsenal, Iwobi was utilized mainly in the wide areas to exploit his pace under Arsene Wenger and last season under Unai Emery.

The major criticism of Iwobi’s game is that he lacks productivity. In his four years at Arsenal, he averaged one goal and two assists every season as stats that would need to improve drastically if he is to succeed at Everton.

At Goodison Park, he will face the challenge of Gylfi Sigudursson, Fabian Delph, Tom Davies and Phillipe Gbamin. In the wide areas, he has competition in Theo Walcott, Bernard and Moise Kean all interchangeable. Head coach Marco Silva has a decision to make on the summer record signing, where is Alex Iwobi’s best position? Join the conversation

Wing will be better for him.

Iwobi is not midfielder in the real sense of it… He is not your ideal number 10. He is more effective playing behind the striker and probably on the wings. I see him as a player who can’t function well when all eyes are on him. He is better when attention is on someone else and he can then sneak upon you to do damage. I’m not sure he can do well under pressure.

Iwobi’s best role is playing behind the striker. But he will flourish as a winger
