Patience is a luxury clubs no longer possess when dealing with managers. Frank Lampard should know better as a former Chelsea player. During his time at Stamford Bridge, the managers were replaced four times during the season. So while managerial jobs are hire and fire, the Chelsea hot seat is on another level. In the last four years, the blues have been coached by Rafa Benitez, Jose Mourinho, Guus Hiddink, Antonio Conte, Maurizio Sarri and now Lampard.
Things couldn’t have gone much worse for Lampard on his first competitive outing. A 4-0 defeat to rivals Manchester United, at Old Trafford, flattered the hosts but infuriated the blues faithful. Lampard Out was trending, with a vast majority declaring that he is ill-equipped to take charge of the side, while others urged for patience amidst the overreaction.
After the debacle against Manchester United, there is intense pressure on Lampard to get things right, but the next fixture is a Super Cup clash against reigning European Champions Liverpool. Not only are the Reds reeling from losing the Community Shield on penalties to Manchester City, but they will also aim to register their first title of the season and are Premier League rivals.
