Have Manchester United improved or were Chelsea poor? join the conversation

There are always two sides to every result. From Manchester United’s perspective, a 4-0 win in their opening game is a sign of good things to come.

Chelsea fans are still scratching their heads in disbelief at scoreline which probably doesn’t reflect the entirety of the encounter.

Last season it seemed like Chelsea has taken huge strides in their progress. They narrowly lost to Manchester City on penalties in the Carabao Cup final, qualified for the Champions League and won the Europa League.

Manchester United ended the season on a bitter note with consecutive defeats which put club legend Ole Gunnar Solkjaer under pressure for the next season.

Chelsea served a transfer ban, lost Eden Hazard to Real Madrid and Frank Lampard returned as head coach. United reinforced their squad with Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan Bissaka and Daniel James
All three players played huge roles as the steamrolled Chelsea in their opener.

The difference between both sides is in reinforcements and continuity for United while Chelsea are rebuilding under Lampard.

To the game itself, Chelsea had better possession, more shots on target better passing accuracy, yet lost by four goals without scoring any.

Sometimes the devil is in the details, stats sometimes are deceiving.
Football is a game of Chance which Manchester United capitalized at every opportunity.

United took good advantage of Lampard’s naivety in the game. Nothing special with the Reds team while Chelsea will also struggle this season.
